Reefton, the 'Town of Light' is the largest inland town on New Zealand's West Coast. Formerly named Quartzopolis due to its quartz gold mining history. Reefton was the first town in the Southern Hemisphere to boast a public supply of electricity.

The town is currently experiencing something of a 'boom' due to the creation of a major gold mine outside of town as well as the burgeoning dairy industry. Reefton is home to around a thousand people, a population that has remained steady since the boom years of the gold rush of the late 1800's.

Reefton is friendly, relaxed and has all the advantages of a metropolitan center allied to that "small town" feel.

Trevor is an Australian from the Gold Coast and he considers Reefton summers to be the best in the world.
